The museum opened in 1964 in the former Hôtel de la Couronne, a Renaissance building which was Lyon's first city hall between 1604 and 1655. The richness of the Museum's heritage material made it one of the leaders in the field in Europe. Today, the Museum is recognized nationally and internationally in the world of graphic arts, making a major contribution via some exceptional temporary exhibition (Scott McCloud, 2017, Andy Wahrol, 2018, An Odyssey of Books, 2019, Vinyl Records, 2020, Susan Kare, 2021). The Museum also offers throughout the year and to people of all ages a programme of visits and workshops linked to the permanent collection and temporary exhibitions. |
